We’ve all dreamt about that idyllic lifestyle. Sitting on a beach with your laptop, lazily churning out articles. Then sitting back and watching the money roll in. But is it really like that?
Tim Ferris chose a great title for his book ‘The Four Hour Work Week’, which certainly got me clicking the ‘Buy now’ button. It’s packed with great information about how to live the lifestyle of an online entrepreneur. But, as Tim says in his book, it is going to involve hard work to get things set up. It’s not just a walk in the park.
His book is definitely worth a read. You can lose yourself for hours, fantasising about the new life that you’re sure to get started by the end of next week. Then it’s back to work and before you know it another week has passed and you’re no closer to living the dream. So how can you get this lifestyle set up without taking a sabbatical?
In order to really get going, you have to discover your ‘why’. Without a solid reason and definite goal for making money online, you’ll never do it. “It’s to become rich” I hear you say. Well that may be true, but WHY do you want to become rich? And what is your definition of ‘rich’? Do you wish to be mortgage free? To travel the world? Or to become one of the richest people on the planet?
Your focus must be on the things you want to be able to do with the money, rather than the money itself. Money isn’t really anything. It’s just numbers in a bank account or pieces of paper in your pocket. It’s only when you spend the money that something happens. So what is it you want the money for? Focus on those things and life begins to shift to make it all happen.
Once you have that goal in mind, all your subconscious attention will be hone in on any opportunity to make it happen. You’ll be fired up with the energy to prioritise your schedule to make sure you work on your online business. You need to be doing this daily. Even if it’s just a quick 30 mins, it must be consistent. Getting started is often the most difficult bit. But remember… just behind it, is keeping going. Unless you do this it will just remain a distant dream.
